eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
So I recently change to eSIM with my new iPhone but I'm still being charged for roaming
sky lost on the sky app that eSIM has no roaming charges, this was the main reason I wanted to change to eSIM.
can anyone cast any light why I'm not getting no roaming charges with this eSIM.
thanks in advance

Re: eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
There is no operational difference between a SIM and an eSIM. They are just installed in different ways.
You are charged for roaming with a physical SIM or an eSIM.
...but you may not have explained yourself clearly?

Re: eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
Roaming occurs when you are outside of the UK so where abouts are you ?

Re: eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
Thank you guys for your replies!!
maybe I didn't explain clear enough??
I travel a lot for work all over the world, I called
sky and talked about my needs with the advisor and said I would like to change to eSIM from my physical SIM card and reading on Sky's app about phone tariffs it stated that no roaming charges for eSIMs. I was advised that there wasn't roaming fees for eSIMs.
I have even got a screen shot of the sky app (mobile) listing of free roaming for eSIMs
thanks again in advance for any help or suggestions

What's an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM that you install in your phone, tablet, or laptop. It's quick to set up, easy to use, and entirely digital - so it's great for the planet. What's not to love?
Benefits of an eSIM
- Switch your Mobile network in minutes.
- Setup and start using quickly, no need to wait for the postman.
- Great for the planet. No SIM card means no plastic and postage.
- No roaming fees. Switch to a local eSIM abroad.
Activating an eSIM
Activating an eSIM is easy. Look out for your Sky Mobile order confirmation email - it will tell you
what to do.

to me this means avoid roaming fees by switching to a local sim, it doesn't mean no roaming fees with your sky mobile esim.
edit. Just to add I use a sky esim and can confirm I pay roaming charges.

It's badly worded I think maybe it should have been put as Want no Roaming Fees, switch to a local esim when abroad.

Re: eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
Indeed, it means you can use another providers eSIM. (Where you can get different terms such as roaming charges)
Switching from a physical Sky SIM to a Sky eSIM does not remove roaming charges.

Re: eSIM and still getting charged for roaming
Yes it does read poorly and not clear and to make it worst I had this conversation on the phone to sky, I explained what I needed from my phone tariff as I work overseas a lot and I was advised that I wouldn't get roaming charges in many countries mostly in Europe. So I not only didn't understand what the sky app was listing but I got misold by sky. so I'm not a happy customer and considering I've been a constant sky customer for over 25 years now, the Indian call centre you have to deal with these days is really putting me off sky, it's mostly hard to understand the sky representative on the phone due to their accent and sometimes they don't understand what the sky customer is asking and on top of that I do wonder how safe our info is at these Indian call centres??
I had a friend a few years back who's data was sold by an Indian call centre to scammers
thanks for your reply and input

I believe only one of the big four networks doesn't charge UK subscribers for European (or wider) roaming. Subscribers in RoI continue to benefit from EU membership.

The same penalty would be applied by the ICO whether data was lost from a local or an offshored contact centre.

I've suggested to Sky that the text be revised as it's clearly capable of being misinterpreted.
