MY area, South Warrington, has always had a poor signal with 3G at best despite what everybody's network checker says. It covers all my nearby streets and you often see people wandering about waving their mobiles. Day to day I get round this in the house with my Sky Wifi but there needs to be an upgrade especially if they are dispensing with 3G in the near future. As I can't get 4G I am assuming I won't be able to get 5G when it arrives in my area. How do I get the signal improved locally?

Can you give a rough indication of which part of south Warrington this is?
Quite often networks have tried to get masts installed in poor coverage areas but they have been refused due to local objections, if that's the case there's not much anyone can do if the locals don't want the masts needed to provide a better service.

WA13 Lymm. For what I hear most of the village has thhis problem. There is a mast at the top end but the landscape drops quickly to sea level (Manchester Ship Canal/Bridgewater Canal and I am between them

It looks like there are two masts covering Lymm, one north of the village near the golf course and one to the south at Lymm Water Tower but the village itself is in a dip which impacts coverage. I can see an old application for a mast at Lymm Rugby Club in 2012 but this was refused.
It may be worth contacting local councillors or your MP to see if there's anything they can do, however it can be difficult to get new masts approved now as there's so many people who object to them (but still want a good signal).

Thanks, that is useful information. I regularly meet one of the local councillors when dog walking so I will approach him. When I was with Vodaphone I did contact the MD and had a couple of exchanges but was passed down the line and never heard again. The Star pub is a community facility and I also suggested to a previous landlady that there might be additional income should she allow it to be used . They have lots of satellite dishes already! Do you know who would be the best person at SKY to contact about an additional mast? I know they piggy back their service (3?) so perhaps a contact there would be better
