Voicemail Icon

Hi, I recently deleted some voicemail messages but the icon re-appeared and won't go away! I don't have any new messages so why won't the icon disappear again? I've tried changing my settings and rebooting my phone but it makes no difference - it still keeps telling me I have new voicemail when I don't. Does anyone know how to fix this please?
