Hi.
winder if someone can advise . I have loads of piggy bank data . I am going on a short cruise (5 days ) to Amsterdam and the company charge £60 per device for the duration of the cruise to access their WiFi . I've read forums where people have said just to use mobile data and then use WiFi in port . ( only two days at sea ) . So I'm wondering how much this will cost and what the best option is . Use my data or pay the cruise company . Anyone any experience as this is my first cruise so have no idea re the WiFi but I do have a 14 year old who isn't going to let me get away without WiFi for five days 🤣. Thanks all

As you say the ships charge a lot of money so you may not have an option if you need to use data. If you are within range of land an it's a roaming passport plus country (mainly EU but some others) then it's £2 for each 24 hours use of your home allowance and piggybank.

When out of range of land-based cellular 'phone' masts, cruise ships use a commercial two-way satellite internet service to provide those on-board with WiFi: there's really no other way to do it. This has a significant cost to the cruise company, and they undoubtedly add a very healthy profit margin given that they have a captive market.
