My son is currently in Croatia, flew to Split then got ferry to Dubrovnik. He is staying close to the border on Bosnia. I had an email from Sky on 15th July to say that there was some extra spend on my account and that they had to limit my account so I could only use what was included in the monthly data plan. I checked the bill, all looked normal, it was asking for me to make a payment to get my account back to normal. All looked well but I paid £55 anyway. The bill didn't look unusual, had 2 days of £2 data roaming add ons.
I got the same message the next day (16th), so went back to look at my bill!!!!
Was showing charge of £140.40 for 64.98MB of data on 15th July!!! **bleep**!!! (Definitely MB not GB)
Country was showing as Bosnia!! I quickly tried to contact my son to tell him to turn his data roaming off! Could not get him, managed to get his girlfriend to tell her what was going on. He turned his phone off and they agreed he would only use it in the room with WiFi. Checked the bill the following day (17th), another charge! £50.75 for 23.49 MB (yes MB) on 16th July!! Got hold of his girlfriend again, his phone had not been on since I told him about £140.40, the second charge must've been the morning of the day I told them, when he had still been using his phone.
Sky can't (won't refund it!) even though the original email said they had to limit my account. Said he must have connected to a mast in Bosnia and that Sky would be billed for this amount, so nothing they could do. Just looking for some advise please. Can someone, somewhere, really get away with charging £191.15 for only 88.47MB of data!!!! That's absolutely ridiculous!!!! Very disappointed in the whole thing really. Is there anything at all I can do??
Thanks in advance 🙂

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreConnecting to a 'rest of world' tariff is expensive - it's at least £2 per MB.
As noted by Sky they have been charged by a third party for supplying the service so goodwill options are possibly slim.
But a spendcap should have limited the cost? (This is usually set at £45, was it removed/changed?)
