Using a mobile abroad (France)
My son is currently in France. He has his phone, and data roaming is turned on, but he is unable to connect to any mobile networks. I can't seem to speak to a human, so wanted to know if anyone has any obvious fixes for this? My phone always seems to just connect straight away but he has tried all sorted including switching off and on again. Any ideas?

Re: Using a mobile abroad (France)
Is there a spend cap set on his sim and if so is it high enough to cover his stay ?

Hi @Hazel881 also get him to try turning off automatic network selection in the phone settings and do a manual search then try different networks from the list.

Re: Using a mobile abroad (France)
Hi there. I've checked his spend cap and it's £40 so should be fine. He's also turned it off and on again. Roaming is definitely on, but I'll ask him to try turning off automatic network finding when I next get hold of him! The trouble is he isn't getting messages and is in and out of WiFi as travelling. He's only 12, so he's nervous about losing contact with anyone!

Re: Using a mobile abroad (France)
Hi all,
spoke to my Son on WhatsApp this morning on hotel WiFi. He's tried all the workarounds above without success. If he looks for the networks manually, no networks are showing up at all.
I couldn't speak to a human yesterday. Do you know if there's any way Sky can remotely ensure his sim picks up their network ? If they can, I'll try again.
poor chap is panicking about getting lost or not finding the bus as it moves to different parking spots in the day.

It's not a 'Sky network' even in the UK: Sky uses O2 infrastructure here.
No cellular provider can ensure service.
