It might be you're only just scraping through the credit check?

edit: as you've previously had a credit check issue with Sky Glass it looks like that is the reason a down payment is being requested for this device.

If you are being asked to pay an upfront fee then it might be due a credit check issue so the cost will be taken off what you will be paying for it over the length of your contract.
