Travel to morocco
Hi
I am travelling to Morocco for 4 days in May.
Is there an eSIM that I can purchase to enable me to use roaming abroad?

Re: Travel to morocco
Hi @Mango2901 if you are already with sky then your current sim will work but it will be very, very expensive so be aware of that before using. If you aren't already with sky then there isn't a PAYG option that would allow roaming.
page 11 on this guide shows the costs.

Re: Travel to morocco
The costs are:
£2,160 per GB (yes this is correct)
£2.16 per minute Calls to local or UK mobile and landline numbers
£1.80 per minute to receive calls
£0.50 per text message to UK numbers and mobiles
£0.58 per picture message(MMS)
A better option would be to use a local sim while in the country so before you leave the UK make sure mobile data and roaming is turned off.

Re: Travel to morocco
Just checked for and if you set your spending cap on your sim card to £10 , you will have two pounds a day add to your sky mobile bill and you can phone text, and use Internet for that, i know this because i have done it on my phone when we went to Spain for 2 weeks, and when my son went away on holiday it called roaming passport plus and yes it will work where you are going on holiday don't put the roaming cap off as reading it that will add £45 on your next bill, cheaper just to move your sim spending cap to £10 and that will more than cover your four days a, and if you want to check this information go to the my sky app mobile section and open manage my sim, hope this helps, and have a great time away

The OP is going to Morocco so it's a Rest Of The World destination so the charges are as outlined by @caesarome and very expensive.

Re: Travel to morocco
Spain is in the EU where £2 roaming applies. Morocco (apart from two tiny Spanish enclaves on the coast) is not and the difference in mobile charges is enormous, as that MSP learnt a while ago.

Re: Travel to morocco
No point ringing Sky on this topic: all that might be confirmed is extremely high potential cost.
Yes, eSims specifically intended for foreign travel are available online through multiple suppliers, but not from Sky.
For reference, £2 per day roaming with a Sky Mobile SIM or eSIM only applies to the EU/EEA plus the countries listed in bold below.

Re: Travel to morocco
Sky does an eSIM version of its own Sky Mobile SIM with exactly the same tariff for overseas travel as the physical Sky-branded wafer of foil and plastic, including the extremely high cost for all calls, texts and data use in destinations not listed above.
It does not offer country-specific eSIMS with more reasonable data rates: those come from specialist suppliers online which have done individual deals with cellular network providers in the countries concerned. The point about acquiring one of these as an eSIM rather than SIM is you don't have to wait for an envelope to arrive before installing it, and can keep it installed as a switchable software profile rather than taking up a physical slot.
Eventually eSIM will replace SIM because this will simplify handset hardware manufacture and save several billion bits of plastic a year.

That isn't what is being asked here though, the member wants to know if they can use an esim from Sky in the country which as explained above will see them wrack up large charges.
