Switching ownership

Hi

Two part question. My phone & sim contract is currently in my mums name, when the phone contract finishes in January I wish to have the sim part in my own name instead. How would I go about this? Would I start a sim contract in my name and then transfer over the phone number and then cancel the contact in my mums name or is there an easier way.

Additionally if I decide to upgrade to a new phone in my own name after my current phone has been paid off, is it possible to send my old device in so I can get some money off or not?

Hi @Bethany78  you won't be able to transfer the number directly from your mums account to your new sky sim. You would need to set up your new account and get your new sim and activate it. Then port your old number to a different network on payg then port it back to the new sim on your account. If the contract is finished in January you won't be able to send the phone back as part of a swap. You may be able to trade it in for some cash or sell it to a site like Music Magpie. Any extra you pay would reduce the length of the new contract, it won't reduce the monthly payments.
