Hi, sorry I'm new to this community so I'm not sure if this is the best place for me to post.
I took out a sky swap 36 contract around Oct 2022 for the iPhone 14 pro max, 256gb. Currently paying around £45 a month and my phone swap time is coming up any day now.
I see that I'll have around £500 left to pay once I swap. This should be paid off easily since my phone is literally still in tact, no damage or anything to the screen or whatever.
Since my iPhone 14 should pay off the remainder, what happens to the rest of the credit? And let's say I choose to upgrade to the iPhone 16 pro max, will the contract per month be roughly the same as what I'm paying currently or will it be much cheaper? Sorry I'm just curious because I could upgrade now to iPhone 16 or wait till the iPhone 17 comes out and I'm not sure what makes more sense to do.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreHi @YBJoka if the trade in value is more than what you owe then that difference is added to your account as credit and goes towards paying future bills. If it's less then the difference is added to your next bill to be paid in one go.
Without having access to your account it will be hard for anyone to say what the price difference on any new contract compared to your old one will be. From my past experience if I choose the newer version of the same phone then the prices tend be similar to what I was paying. The sim plan is treat separately and you can just use your old sim/plan in your new phone. You can't port from one sky sim to another so if you choose a new plan that will come with a new number. To get your old number on a new sim would involve porting your number to a different network on PAYG then porting back to the new sim. If you wait until next year you may find you can't upgrade as at the end of your contract the upgrade option isn't available and you simply order a new phone and keep the old one to with what you want.
