Does the Sky mobile network support Apple Watch 6 so I can use mobile data on my watch?

Posted by a Sky employee@Glos+Mike - We don't currently support Apple Watches as they take an eSIM which we don't sell.
Take care.

Thanks.
Any idea when Sky mobile will make the esim available?

Hi Sky,
What do you mean when you say that you don't sell the esim that the watch requures? An esim is not a physical product it's just a service that you give so that the watch can use / share the contract we have for the mobile number?
Many Thanks
Chris

To be totally honest I've had enough of sky.
yhey make it near impossible for me to watch their products and use their very expensive service whilst I'm away in my caravan. They refuse to allow its customers to use cellular on their Apple watches. I've been with them 18years but have now had enough of them.

You can use Sky in your caravan by either using Sky Go or by taking out a separate subscription, your not entitled to use your current Sky boxes away fro.the registered address as per the terms and conditions of the contract you agreed to.
@CPL72 Sky simply don't sell a service that supports esims, only 3 providers in the UK are on the approved provider list for Apple.

As sky use The O2 network which does offer the esim one can only assume that either Sky don't, won't or cannot sign the additional service from O2. Hearing nothing from sky about the future plans for Apple Watch does nit help their cause. I have a watch and want to go out walking or cycling without my phone. SKY get real and give your customers what they either want or sometimes need.
As for sky go. Yes I can watch it in my caravan on my phone or iPad but you won't allow me to mirror to my tv so we can both watch it. I go for about 3 to four weeks a year and you suggest taking out another package for this. Get real. I'm looking for a service that delivers for its customers not a dictatorship.

It's a shame Sky don't yet support Apple Watch, which is why I haven't switched to Sky Mobile.
It may not be entirely Sky's fault though, depending on what kind of MVNO they are. If they operate their own infrastructure and simply use O2's masts, it is on Sky to make the investment to start support eSIMs, on the other hand, if O2 operate the infrastructure as well as supplying the masts, it's entirly up to O2 what Sky is allowed to use. It's not uncommon for companies such as O2 to without certain capabilities to companies like Sky so they can retain a competative advantage for themselves.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I believe Sky do run their own infrastucture and just piggy back on O2's mobile network. My understanding is that supporting esims requires a considerable amount of work to implement. Apple never make it easy or cheap for companies to support their products.
