Sky Sim Card to E Sim

Hi, my partner is a sky mobile customer with an I phone SE which has a SIM card.  They are considering upgrading to a new I phone which supports e sim. How easy is it transfer the existing sky mobile number from that physical SIM to the E SIM on the new phone.  ?

Does the SIM card need to be converted to an E SIM first ?

I understand that a PAC code isn't required as it will still be with Sky.

You can convert the sim but I would wait until the new sim is in their hands, this link should help them to do it:
