Sky Mobile Faulty Phone

Hi everyone! I'm 15 months into an iPhone 16 Pro credit agreement, the phone a few weeks ago shutdown and won't turn back on. I took it to an apple store and they have said the motherboard has failed and to repair it will be £500-600. As it is out of warranty I would have to pay but apple advised me about the consumer rights act and specifically section 23 where as I should expect the phone to work as expected for the duration of that agreement as long as I have not caused the damage, which I have not. Has anyone else had a similar issue as I keep getting passed from pillar to post by forgein call centres who aren't of any help. I tried to open a complaint and apprentetly it was rejected without giving me a reason.

Very frustrating as I am a 'gold' customer although it seems they couldn't care less about me not having a phone for weeks. That is on top of the issue of me paying for a service that I can't use!

Hi @TWD26  you would need to prove the fault was there when you first received the phone, if Apple won't provide this for you then not sure where you can go from here. Would Apple not provide a replacement if they are saying it should be covered ?

hi John, no as it is out of warranty apple wont cover it. But the consumer rights act section 23 states that it is down to the supplier to pay for the repair.. sky aren't interested which is very poor in my opinion.

@TWD26 Section 23 would apply, but you will have to show that the fault was present from the day you received it and is not down to misues or accident, Sky would be well within their rights to refuse to help if you can't show that, Apple may be able to provide you with a report stating that(if they can there may be a charge for it).
