Sky Menu - what is it?

I've noticed an app has popped up on my Samsung phone named "sky menu". I've also seen some posts somewhere that indicate that it may be malware, My AV software hasn't picked it up,  I reverted to factory settings - twice - it came back again (both times). Soooo...

1. What is it?

2. Is it "safe"?

3. If not, how do I get rid of it?

4. Why has it suddenly appeared?  I've used this phone for 4 years without it coming to light.

TIA.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

It is perfectly safe as it is from Sky as that is where certain settings on your phone can be changed like activating roaming if you go abroad. Why it has suddenly appeared I wouldn't know unless you have only just recently started using a Sky sim in it.

Re: Sky Menu - what is it?

Thanks for the info - I'm impressed, that was a seriously rapid response!

I've no idea why it suddenly came up  - it may have received a minor update or something, but there it is. I had a sky sim in ithe phone from new, although I purchased the phone directly from samsung and got a sim-only contract from Sky.  The app seems to override a more generic SIM management widget, and that kind of thing can be slightly disturbing if you find it by accident. All's good with me now,

Thanks again,

AndyB
