Sim does not support wifi calling

Sky sim does mot allow wifi calling. Wifi calling in the same phone using a talkmobile sim worls no problem so suspect sim. Phone is samsung s7.

Was the phone from Sky because if it wasn't Sky does say it might not work:

NO, phone not bought from sky.

But phone was also not bought from Talkmobile yet wificalling worked with a talkmobile sim.

If wifi calling works on that phone with ANY sim, it suggests problem is not with the phone?

Surely it suggests that the phone itself is wifi calling capable, given the right SIM?

Hi @Davethurston  the phone is WiFi calling compatible but sky do not always update firmware to allow it on phones not purchased from them.

why would sky want (or need ) to update phone sw?

sky can probably update sim firmware onto a new sim card and supply to a customer.

But I suspect only Samsung can update firmware on a Samsung phone.

Otherwise it would be chaos with each mobile provider changing phone firmware to suit just themselves.

Unless it was done at point of sale by Samsung customising the firmware for a supplier like EE or vodafone as part of a branded package..

I supply a pic showing the s7 showing its firmmware is aware of , and can enable wifi calling , independently of which mobile provider is involved.

Not wanting to get into an argument about it @Davethurston  you would need an update from sky to your firmware to allow WiFi calling. Use the search tool at the top of the page to look for WiFi calling and you will find many people over the years with this issue.
