Realistically the value of such a device is significantly reduced once it's been used, and no vendor is going to accept that loss outside the statutory return period.

You can, if you wish, choose to sell the hardware privately, but repayments must still be made until the balance is cleared: you could use the sale price to credit a lump sum if you wanted to.
