Roaming in Mexico

I have been charged £200 for roaming not being switched off for 1 hour in the airport in Mexico despite having no signal or actually using my phone.
has anyone had experience with this? I understand this is the t&cs for roaming in Mexico with Sky but seems very unreasonable. I understand that they are not liable to refund or resolve this but just wondering other peoples experiences as this is very stressful
Thanks

Mexico is a "Rest of the World" country so you are going to rack up large charges if you used mobile data for an hour as it costs £2.16 per megabyte (not gigabyte). Did you look into the charges before you left the UK ?

Modern phones will use data even if you're not actively using your phone.

£200 would be around 90Mb which could easily be used within the hour.

You can call Sky and see if they can apply any goodwill.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own
