Phone number issues

Hi,

is it possible for someone to have the same number as me??

Ive got my daughter a phone and when we set up watsapp, it automatically looked asif it was someone else's watsapp. It wasn't her name on the profile. Anyway I changed it all and she recieved a few calls over WhatsApp so we blocked the numbers. We heard nothing else. Then all of a sudden we're getting messages off random people asking if this is the person. I've searched the net and nothing is coming up that this has happened. Apparently watsapp can only be registered to your number. I'm so confused. Do I need to get a new number and set it up again? 
I have already tried deleted WhatsApp account and setting it up again and it did the same thing.

All phone numbers across all mobile networks are recycled so that chances are somebody has had this number previously so I would give Sky a call to see if they will cancel that one and issue you with another that hopefully you will not have this issue with second tine around. 150 is the number to call Sky on.
