Phone hacked?
25 Oct 2024 04:26 PM
When contacting a friend that's saved in contacts, the friend then received messages we didn't send (no record of them on our phone) and when the friend has replied it's not gone to our phone either. So it looks like this...
Us - sends text to friend (friend receives)✅
Us - sends text to friend (friend received)✅
➡️➡️friends phone states "RCS chat with X (our name)"⬅️⬅️
Friend - sends text to us (we don't receive)❌

So every time my friends phone enters into "RCS chat" any messages from or to us are not actually sent by us or received by us! Could this mean we've been hacked? SIM activated from new for the first time 2 days ago (23/10/2024). Brand new contract. No switch of numbers/PAC code used.
🛜🛜Also what's strange is that we've had a text to the account holder saying 80% of the spend cap for the number in question has been used. The spend cap is £1 therefore 80% would be £0.80; however the only additional charges are £0.33 and this is listed under the data section of the "mobile bill". So it looks like this:
My Mix 23 Oct - 24 Oct - £0.33
Unlimited Calls and Texts - £0.00
23 Oct - 24 Oct 2024
10GB - £0.33
23 Oct - 24 Oct 2024
My main concern is obviously the texts to and from our number that we aren't sending or receiving, but also this £0.33 charge for data when we haven't exceeded data (still in excess of 9GB remaining).
I've called Sky and been transferred 3-4 times because unfortunately everyone I've spoken to cannot seem to answer my concerns. I've received answers that I know aren't factually correct (for example telling me that the spend cap is for charges abroad whereas I know it's also for things like picture messages that aren't inclusive in the unlimited texts bundle. I've tried for nearly an hour to get to the bottom of it but unfortunately due to language barriers I'm not receiving any support at all.
This is obviously very concerning particularly as this is a child's phone which we have every possible security setting turned on for; can anyone help at all please?
UPDATE: Whilst typing this out, I've been notified by a family member that they have also sent and received messages to our number that we haven't received nor have we sent back.
