Phone dead after scam 'sky sim update' call

My phone is not yet a year old. I gave my daughter my last phone when I received it. Unfortunately, before I bought a screen protector, After 3  weeks I dropped it cracking the screen a bit  however I have been able to use it all year,..

Yesterday I received a call supposedlyfrom Sky with a "private" number . The Indian guy said he was a Sky technician and wanted to know if the mobile wS working ok , and I said it was. He said most pleople said there were reception problems etc a d that Sky was doi g an upcate and I wou.d be receivi g a new sim in a coupleofdays as the present on es would stop working.I said whwt if they stopped before we received the new sims and he said they would be sure to arrive before the old ones voided.

He then  checked my email was the same as the one that he said he had( of course I should have asked what he had)so I naievely gave my email but not my password.At that point my daughter grab bed my phone and abrupt,y ended the call.I am normally carefulbut was ta,en in this ti e

M  Y phone wouldnt charge all night and all today  since that call. People are saying " but you have a cracked screen" however it has worked for a year until yesterday!

What should I do?.I cant phone sky as don't have a phon e and my phone is a 3 year contract so will have to pay to  upgrade.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

@Oithona

Your daughter was correct in stopping that call as it was a scam call so have you since changed your account password incase they have access to it as usually this is why such calls are made:

Pay special attention to this:

If you receive an unexpected parcel from Sky get in touch with our customer services team immediately. We can give advice on what to do. Don’t send the parcel anywhere except our returns address.

We’ll give you pre-paid returns packaging to send the parcel back to us.
