Overseas roaming

Daughter has just arrived in France on way to Switzerland.  She's received a message to say 'welcome to over the sea' and that she'll be charged 72p per message.  We appear / thought we had international roaming switched on and I thought she'd just be charged the £2 per day? Any ideas?

That appears to be a particular brand of private on-board communication service offered by at least one ferry company (and, frankly, a rather unhelpful way to inform users)

Ships typically use a two-way satellite data service which has a high wholesale cost: the  operator also enjoys a nice profit margin from a captive market.

£2 daily roaming applies once the phone is in range of French (or other EU/EEA) cellular network masts.

Hi @SharonSk  as mentioned by @TimmyBGood  that message refers to when she was on the ferry, in France it will be £2 for each 24 hours use.
