Ok, so last night I get a call from a weirdo obviously trying to get his kicks from a dirty call. I hung up and he tried calling back 3 more times. All No Caller ID and 'unknown'. On an iPhone there is no way to block callers like this, albeit I enabled Silence unknown callers.
I then responded as recommended by Ofcom and phoned the police and my provider...What a complete farce phoning Sky turned out to be...no one could help, I had to constantly repeat that I could not block the number, I must have repeated this at least half a dozen times. Apparently Sky have no special team to deal with serious issues like this, no way to respond or no one to give advice or help. I live on my own, it was very upsetting to have to deal with this. The person was threatening, clearly getting his sexual kicks and persistent in calling.
Seriously Sky, is this the best you can do...the only solution offered was that I could change my number...what a perfect example of victim blaming! It is up to me to sort this out. I can't imagine how long it would take to change my number with all the organisations/friends/services.
Of course tracking this person should be possible and then dealing with his criminal activity the next stage...but no, that appears to be beyond the scope of Sky (and probably every other provider). What about duty of care to your customers, you are happy to make the profit, but less so to accept any kind of responsibility or take meaningful action to stop this happening...!

Oh I forgot to say. I registered an official complaint, got an email acknowledging it, then got another email less than 5 seconds later saying we tried to contact you about your complaint, but you didn't answer...if we don't hear from you we will consider the matter closed...farcical doesn't come close does it...incompetence at a whole new level!

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morePhone companies can't block numbers or deal with them as you seem to
think you can. If you keep getting these calls then report them to Sky on the free 150 number and ask them if it is possible to cancel this number and then be issued with a new one.

Can't or won't, big distinction! And why should the onus be on me to change my number with all the massive disruption it causes...not good making the victim pay the price is it!

If you don't want to take the opportunity to change your number just stay silent on calls from u/k callers and hopefully they'll get fed up.
