New handset

Hi I'm struggling a bit to figure out the upgrade process.

I've currently got 5 sims for myself and family members. My daughter wants to upgrade her phone, only thing I'm struggling with is when I select the new handset how do I assign it to her number/plan? I can't figure out how sky will know which plan needs the price increase out of the 5?

Hi @Fllyyer  just order the phone, you don't need to assign it to her. You can use her current sim in it. If you order a new plan then that would come with a new number and you would have to port her old number to a different network then port it back if she wanted to keep her number. You should be able to order a phone without a plan, if it won't let you then choose the free one but don't activate it.

Thanks for the reply.

So does getting an upgraded handset not tie you into a new contract?

All I was thinking was what if at some point I wanted to get another contract with someone else and port my number to it? If sky thinks I've bought this handset for my number wouldn't that stop me?

Hi @Fllyyer  you are tied in for the phone but if your existing sim is more than 12 months old then you are out of contract and can leave when you want and just keep paying for the phone. If you get a new sim/plan and activate it then that would tie you in to a new 12 month minimum term.
