Mobile number not recognised

I've had enough of my mobile not being able to make calls or callers getting the message "that number is not recognised" unless, of course, I turn it off and on every time it happens. Unless you have another mobile or landline to test it then you don't even know it's not working! Sky don't seem to know what the answer is. I've tried all the advice available. I have therefore got my PAC and hopefully my new provider will do better?

Re: Mobile number not recognised

The only "easy" thing that seems to work is turning phone on and off.  But this only works for a short time and you don't know your number is not recognised until you are able to dial your mobile from a landline or text someone and ask them to tell you what happens when they try and call you.  I've tried resetting my phone with the link sent by Sky, turning roaming on and off, and just turning phone on and off.  It corrects the problem but just for a short time.  I've now asked for my PAC number and am going to another provider. What good is a mobile number when you don't know whether it's working or not. Texts work fine, calling via WhatsApp works fine but your doctor, bank, etc. are not going to be calling you on WhatsApp! All I can suggest is texting and telling your brother his numbers not recognised, ask him to turn it off and on and see if it solves the problem.

Re: Mobile number not recognised

I pay for my brother's sky sim but when I try to call him I get a message "number not recognised" I know it is the correct number so how can I resolve this issue as the mobile is his lifeline.

Re: Mobile number not recognised

I keep getting this too, sometimes when people call it's saying number not recognised, then it will randomly call fine, my partner tried to call me 9 times today, he kept getting "the number you are calling is not recognised" " the person you are calling is on the phone" or just cuts off, non of them 9 calls showed as a missed call, I'm an emergency this is a bit rubbish

Re: Mobile number not recognised

@Ventham I ended up changing provider. Sky Help just went through the usual pre-written script.  Then it was "can you give me your details again so we can accelerate your fault". Then I got someone from the Help Desk who was more interested in trying to get me to upgrade my phone and give them a good score, than solve the problem. It was infuriating.  In the end I couldn't stand the stress especially when awaiting calls from my doctor so I left Sky.
