Iphone Air E-sim ?

Good Afternoon

I have ordered a swap for my Iphone 16 and i am

swapping for an the new Iphone Air 

The question i have is regarding the E-sim 

I have a physical sim with contract , which i

intended to just put in my new iphone air 

However, i've just realised that the iphone only uses an E-sim

What do i need to do now,  plz

Should i have ordered the E-sim with the phone 

I dont know if i need anything to enable E-sim 

Such as a bar code or activation code 

please advise if you can

You can convert your physical SIM to eSIM: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/esim-sky-mobile-convert-sim

If your current iPhone takes esims then you should be able to convert the sim you have to a eSIM:

Then move it to your new phone:

So i don't have to place an order the e-sim from sky 

and i dont actually buy an e-sim , i just convert  my physical sim to e-sim myself 

can i do that on the day i receive my new iphone air 

I was confused when i realised the phone only uses an e-sim and i have a physical sim with data plan 

I really do need to keep my number

If you order a new eSIM then it will be a new number...

This is confusing me too. I am switching from iphone 15 to iphone air. My new phone is arriving today. I just hope its an easy process. Do we convert old iphone to esim first and then move it to new phone or the physical sim is moved to esim without forst converting it to esim. There is an article on quick transfer from apple devices but sill a bit confused by it. And as you say it sayd about purchasing an esim.

I am the same, titally confused 

I just received an email from sky saying the 

iphone air onky uses esim and i will need to order one

However i can't order one unless i add a data plan which i don't need 

Then if i do order one, i will get a different phone number ( which i do not want )

I must keep my old number 

Please please let me know how you get on sorting your phone out

Did you order an esim when you ordered the phone ?

I have never used esim before

It's arriving any minute but will activate later on. I will start by switching on iPhone air and hope it guides me ok! Or may call sky if still confused. But I will report back later. 

No I did not order an e sim but the e mail seems to say that's what you need to do.

This is a nightmare. I switched on iphone air and it guided me through transferring everything from the old iphone. Then it said choose your number from old iphone to transfer to esim on iphone air. But it didnt work. Phoned a sky advisor and he got me to scan a barcode on old phone and then new phone said activating line and then after half an hour failed.

So phoned Sky again and this advisor said he will e mail a code for a new e sim but I must call Sky again to activate it and not to try and do it myself. So at the moment still using my iphoe 15 and getting nowhere!

now phoned fourth advisor and been told technical team will call tomorrow lunchtime.

Oh no what a carry , i hope you get it sorted tomorrow.

I guess i will have the same trouble , you would think they would know exactly what needs doing and guide you correctly

On another note, what does the Iphone Air look like

I havnt even seen one, but i'm hoping i like it

 Really interested in getting a lighter easier to carry about phone 😀 

I had a 15 plus nice subtle pink one,but it was too big and heavy

Then i went for the 16 but i hate the pink colour its too vivid for me

i'm hoping i will like the Air (pale blue)

Thanks. To start with it seemed ok. The quick transfer instuctions on the news section on here said its quick and easy! The phone does look quite nice. Very slim and larger screen to the iphone 15. I havent had a phone before with Apple Intellegence so have to get my head round that.

I am not the only one having issues. Look at another thread on here Esim issues Absolute shambles. Goos luck when you get yours. Hopefully this tech guy whoe is calling later will sort it out.

If only it were that simple! I have just been told NOT to convert the physical sim to esim on my currrent phone but to wait 24 hours and it shouls be fine.

Hi 

I did the transfer from my iphone 16 to Iphone air today after my phone was delivered, i thought it wasn't due for another few days 

I didnt add any mobile network sim yet 

Just trying to sort my phone out, so i will leave the rest till tomorrow

i hope you don't mind me asking, but did you get the esim sorted 

What do you think of the phone

I received my phone but had trouble with esim

installation, but the back of the phone gets very warm vey quickly 

Not sure if all this carry on with the esim is worth it,i havn't solved it yet 

I have asked for a replacement sim because my normal sim was turned off and i lost the use of my "swap phone"

I am seriously thinking of returning the phone and keeping my "swap" 

I've only had the phone 2days and my head is spinning and i can't even use it

@Anonymous No still not sorted. Yesterday spoke to a fifth advisor who said there is a problem and sky are aware of it and trying to sort it and expect it to be resolved by tomorrow. He did give me a credit to cover the cost of the old phone as I cannot send it back until I get this eSIM working. 

luckily I still have use of my phone but also have iPhone air on wifi so can use it for anything but phone calls. 

I quite like it as it has additional features that my old one did not like Apple Intelligence. 

still unsure about the eSIM installing properly. I have been sent four replacement esims. I have to be sure it will transfer before I do this as don't want to lose service.

I am thinking that erasing the new phone and starting again.
