Handset handover scam

Hello Sky Community Team,

I am writing to request an urgent escalation regarding my account security. I have fallen victim to a high-value handset scam

The scammers convinced me to place an order for a premium mobile handset, stating as I am a SKY diamond member I am eligible for a completely free handset. Once the handset arrived, I was told there was an issue with the delivered item and I had to return it to a courier they were arranging to return and pick up the item within minutes. Unfortunately, before I fully understood what was happening I handed the device over to courier, and I now realise this was a fraudulent collection scam.

I have officially changed my Sky account password. I have filed a report with Action Fraud to document the theft and identity compromise. I have notified my bank to monitor for unauthorised Direct Debits.

Because a physical handset cannot be returned, standard telephone customer service agents cannot easily resolve this, and I am deeply concerned about the credit agreements and bills currently sitting against my name.

Could a Sky Community Moderator please step in, review my case, and escalate this directly to the back-office Fraud and Account Security Team?

Thank you for your urgent help.

I'm afraid they would not be able to do this as the advice on what needs to be done can be found here:

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/fraud-scams-report

Select “No, I still need help” at the bottom of this page if something’s wrong with your Sky account., Or if you have messages, orders or changes you don’t recognise.

When you contact us, we may ask for details that will help us understand what’s happened. This could include messages, calls, orders, account numbers, devices, delivery information, Report Fraud or police reference numbers, and screenshots.

We’ll tell you if your case needs to be reviewed by our fraud team and explain the next steps.
