Hello everyone,
I read through the boards here and saw that I'm not at all alone with this problem, but I can't receive any text messages (SMS) on my eSIM Sky Mobile Ireland plan on my iPhone 15 Pro. That's crucial because you need this with pretty much every company for verifying your mobile number in your profile.
Everything else works fine. I've so far gone through everything I could find. Entered the number into the eSIM profile and all, restarted a couple of times. Nothing. I also tried sending the networks settings to my number from the MySky account on the website (Product Settings etc.), and ironically, that doesn't arrive either.
I'm on the edge of cancelling my contract during the cooling-off period, which is otherwise a good match for what I need.
Any advice?
Thanks!
Flo

Same here with a physical SIM. Can't send SMS or MMS.
In my settings I would probably have to change the "Message Centre" number - but can't find what to anywhere...

Hi @caesarome
Thanks, but that refers to a UK number - I'm on the brand new Irish service... And I think they are still trying to sort things in the background, as suddenly (without me changing anything) I can now text.
No MMS yet, but I would not be surprised if that were possible in the near future. 🙂
Cheers

@MartinD18 How long did it take for the SMS to start working?
19 Sep 2024 11:12 PM
@Flo_S sorry for the late reply. I activated the SIM at around 10am, got the successful number transfer notification at around 2 pm together with the configuration message. At around three I could make and receive calls, but the texts would not come through, nor go out. At around 9 pm - so about an hour after I posted my initial message to this board - the texts suddenly were there.
Still no luck with the MMS though...
Cheers

@MartinD18 Thanks, well that's very quick. It'S been a week now. I can meanwhile send & receive SMS, but the verification SMS still don't reach me.

Correction: I can still only receive selected SMS apparently. Some arrive, some don't. I'll give it one more week and will then cancel if it still doesn't work.
If anyone meanwhile has a solution, please let me know! Thanks!

i have exactly the same issue!! ive been having issues with sky since I signed up. I needed the esim and getting the physical one I thought I'd have no issues but alas it's was not to be.
Ive been to them about one problem alr another most daily o it's beyond frustrating. feels like they took a leaf out of apples' book, "half baked products".

@OisinOReilly Good to know I'm (still) not alone. Forums here are full with people with the same issue, apparently also in the UK networks.
It's very strange because some (as in: messages from one Irish, one German) number was sent through, but from the rest of numbers I've tried, neither go my messages through to them, nor theirs to mine.
As SMS are crucial for verification purposes, this is a no-go for me and I'm cancelling my plan again today.
Too bad, because the plan really was ideal for me.

Ok, so unfortunately the issue didn't resolve, and Tech Support (which is indeed quite a trip to get a hold of, various forwardings with waiting times etc.) just told me it's a known issue and they're "working on it" and it will be "a couple more days" but couldn't specify how long that would be.
I cancelled now, as it was my last day of my cooling-down period, and will need to look for something else. If there's any updates from anyone, would be nice if you could post them here!

I am also experiencing the same issue. Not able to receive any text message.
I have already contacted support saying that this was critical but haven't got a reply from them. I am not able to access banks and other services as I am not getting the OTP. My cooling off period ends tomorrow but would not be able to move to another carrier without being able to receive SMS.

@AP1234 What do you mean you cannot move to another carrier without receiving SMS? Of course you can?
I'd definitely advise to draw out of there before it's too late, although I'd be interested to hear in case they resolve it. 😛
However, technical issues don't seem to be so uncommon, I read here about other issues too, e.g., Data stopping to work while on a call and stuff like that. Given how hard it is to reach someone at Tech Support, I think that's an unpleasant combination.
