Activating new sim
Help! I got my new I-phone 17 today. Stayed with sky so I understood no PAC code needed because I'm not changing supplier. Transfered all data from old phone to new. That worked. However, tried to activate new 5g sim (old sim is 2g), but it asks for activation number and PAC code. The PAC code 'was not recognised' so I deleted it, but I can't activate the sim without it. I thought I didn't need it because I've stayed with sky. I'm now stuck with two phones and two sims. I don't want the old sim/phone. I tried phoning the help centre but the guy hung up on me but not before he said he could transfer the 2g to my new sim (but aren't I paying for 5g?). I tried the virtual assistant but that didn't help. Can anyone help in non-techy speak

Re: Activating new sim
Hi @Heather062 the only way to get your old number on the new sim is to use the PAC to port your number to another network on PAYG then port it back to the new sim. There aren't 2G sims so your old sim should work in the new phone but will be the old plan and you would need to cancel the new one if you aren't using it. Call sky on 150 to cancel a sim.

Re: Activating new sim
Thank you. I think part of the problem is I seem to have ended up with two contracts (and two phones) both with sky. I thought I was just upgrading and that by getting the new phone and sim it would cancel out the old one as that's what has happened in the past (I think). I want to cancel the sim only contract I have with them and just keep the new one. I'm thinking I'll have to try to phone them again but trying to get through the bot is a nightmare, plus last time when I got through the call was ended midway, not by me. Frustrating and causing unecessary stress.

Re: Activating new sim
@Heather062 by adding the extra sim then that will have a new number. If you call sky and cancel the old one you will lose that number. The only way to keep your old number is to either use the old sim/plan in the new phone or use a PAC to port the old number to a different network on PAYG then port it back to your new sim. That would close the old sim down. Sky won't be able to put your old number on the new sim.

Re: Activating new sim
I forgot to say my old sim is a 2gb plan but the new sim is a 5gb plan. Obvs you pay extra for the 5gb which is why I'm reluctant to just keep with the old plan and sim. As you can tell I'm not techy. If I go to a sky store could they help?

No @Heather062 i dont think a store will be able to help. It's up to you though if you want to try that route.
