25gb data roaming cap

My son is travelling abroad with no wifi access and is about to exceed the 25gb spend cap.  Despite being advised that he can continue to access data at a daily charge I have received a further email advising in line with the Fair Use Policy the service may be suspended if he goes over the 25gb cap.

Spent all day yesterday on the chat trying to get clarity from advisors with no joy.

Really worried he will lose service while away.

Can anyone provide some clarity on this for me?

TIA

@Framea8

That decision is down to Sky. They can suspend service.

See this link

Roaming using Roaming Passport Plus (so in 120 countries) is now limited to 25GB per billing period.

From Skys own website...

"When you roam using our Roaming Passport Plus, we consider that up to 25GB per billing period is a reasonable amount of data to use. If you exceed this amount, we'll assume that you're no longer using data in the way expected of a reasonable customer for periodic travel."

"We may suspend your service, restrict your usage, or charge you for the data that you use in excess of these amounts (currently £2.50 per GB), and we'll let you know by SMS or email before we do so."

I don't think we can.

Either he will be charged for each additional GB or the service will be suspended until the next billing cycle.  I don't believe anyone here can say with certainty which will be triggered.

Sky have assured me he will not lose service but will be charged. The spend cap for both roaming data and mobile data are currently switched off. Is this the right thing to do?

It's a cost per gigabyte.

If multiple gigabytes are being consumed, it would be irresponsible of a provider to permit a customer to run up a huge bill.

If the spending cap is switched off then there's potentially no limit to what can be spent.

To be fair the guidance talks about reserving the right to suspend service (not emergency calls though) for continued excessive usage.  I suspect a few GB over the limit won't be regarded as excessive.

However, he should review his usage as reading a few mails, browsing a few websites or using a navigation app wouldn't usually be an issue.  Watching video streams might...
