Sky go on MacBook Neo - won’t install

My son is a big sports fan and is off to uni next month.  I bought him a MacBook Neo yesterday and we have tried to download the Sky Go app but the installer downloads and then, when you double click on it, it just tries to download it again and again.  It won't actually try to install.  My son is devastated so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas please?  We spent 3 hours last night trying to resolve it but to no avail.  Thank you,
