Anyone got any ideas how to get the sky go app to work on a laptop running linux mint?

Given there's no Go client for Linux, I'd imagine a whole lot of messing about with either Windows or Android emulation and absolutely no guarantee of success. Unfortunately the 'Free' in FOSS only applies where you don't value your own time...

Oh, and good luck getting a DRM implementation on Linux which Go will accept ; )

You don't, I use an Amazon Fire to access the Sky Go app via the Google play store
Sky don't support Linux 😞

Note also that all historic references to 'Silverlight' in this context are obsolete.
