Sky Go and Windows 11 - Mid Sept. 2026

We have a couple of Windows 11 PCs with Sky Go installed on them. Last night, while trying to launch the app on on of them the screen 'updated' indefinately. It just hung for 40+ mins. This morning I deleted the app and tried to reinstall it. Every download attmpt failed.

I tried the second PC. This just hung. Both were working fine until a couple of days ago. Both have the latest Windows 11 installed. I can't access the app through either PC now. I suspect a recent Windows update has broken the app.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or explainations, would be appreciated.

(Sorry if I'm replicating a request / issue, I looked but couldn't find anything.)

@BexXXx  It wouldn't be the 1st time a Windows uodate crippled the SKy Go appo.

@BexXXx

I've just tried launching Sky Go on my Windows 11 Desktop and it's running fine.

I haven't used it in a few weeks so when it opened it launched an update to download. This installed within a minute then it relaunched and works fine.

The app version is 26.3.1

All my Windows updates are recent and up to date.

You may need to check your video card drivers are up to date.

Re: Sky Go and Windows 11 - Mid Sept. 2026

So the issue has sort of resolved itself.

Ten hours latrer one PC updated the Sky Go app itself and it opened and behaved as expected. The Other still won't download the app so I downloaded it on a different machine and coped the .exe file onto the desktop o the troublesome PC anmd launched it from the desktop. Everything now works OK on that machine too.

There was clearly some issue with the app but whether it was  due to a Windows issue, a Sky app issue,  or a Sky server issue, I'll never know. It's working properly again and that's all I care about.
