Hi there I have an active sky subscription which I've had for about a year now I downloaded sky Go and it tells me to log in which I do and then it tells me that I do not have an active subscription to activate sky Go so can someone please explain why this is happening

When you joined Sky a year ago were you a new customer or had you left sometime in the past then returned, if the answer is no then try this:
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-id-cant-access-all-my-services
