Why can't SKY GO stream in 4k when other apps like Apple TV and Netflix can do it easy

Being as many use it when away from their home broadband and using a 4g/5g mobile connection, broadcasting in 4k would be quite a challenge and probably not possibly at all with the 4g and 5g network when mobile.

Sky Go is designed mainly for mobile devices and for watching 'on the go' so there's no point in it sucking up huge amounts of bandwidth with 4K streams when they're mainly going to be viewed on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop with a screen size of 6-14 inches on average.
Sky won't offer 4K via Sky Go on Apple TV 4K boxes or Consoles because they'd rather you pay for Whole Home and get it via a Stream puck.

Realistically, being a no-cost add-on to the subscription Sky television hardware platforms throughout its history, Go just isn't a priority for that kind of attention.

Do you own a mobile device that supports a screen resolution of 4096x2160😉

Sarcasm not helpful. I have apple TV running skygo. It provides 4k on other streaming services but skygo is a pathetic 720. My primary sky-Q box is only place I can get sky in UHD. My 2nd TV with sky mini has only HD. I would like to use skygo on ATV to get UHD.

Sky Q is nearly nine years old, and Go is just not particularly versatile (and, realistically, not a priority for Comcast as it's a legacy product). The current Sky platform for multiple points of UHD output is Sky Stream.

It's not a development issue to enable UHD on skygo for specific(capable) devices - it is a deliberate policy decision. The band is playing while the ship sinks...

Quite possibly: Go is not a priority product.
