is it worth it

Is it really worth upgrading to sky glass tv

We have sky q ( i think) plus two mini boxes  in the house  and all channels so paying a fortune

Is it really worth having sky glass  as I worry about not having tv if the broadband goes down ( sometimes we struggle to get a good signal even with a booster ) and would it mean having the cost of an outside ariel installed to get the free view channels  as I  am disabled and we have my daughter and grandaughter living with us who is only 2,5 years old so  having no tv working would be a nightmare especially as she likes to watch the grinch animated version which we gave in record or disney films  when she goes to bed to settle down to sleep  as it also says during changing you can  lose  recordings

it just seams very complicated and expensive to change

Hi @enaj I have Sky Stream and love it BUT if I'm being 100% honest in your situation I would suggest you stay with Sky Q provided it is not giving you any problems.   Sky Glass is NOT an upgrade it is simply a way of obtaining Sky content if you can't have or don't want to have a satellite dish.

There is quite a steep learning curve in using the streaming platform and you need to get proficient at sorting out issues when they occur (which is frequently) with Glass or the Stream Puck.

The most important thing is to have both fast and stable broadband otherwise it is certainly not worth considering as you will have constant issues.

The programmes that you have recorded to your Sky Q box will not be transferred.  When I moved to Stream I took photos of my Q recordings menu and then found them all on the streaming platform and added them to my playlist.  There was only 1 programme I couldn't find.

As I said at the beginning I love the streaming platform and even though I have access to a satellite dish I would not consider reverting back to Sky Q.  I am lucky enough to have excellent WiFi which is probably why I have minimal issues and those that do occur with my setup are generally resolved by a reboot.  If the issue is at Sky's end you just have to wait for them to provide a fix.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do but do your research before making a decision.

In your situation, no.
Sky Glass is a different type of service, not necessarily an upgrade of service.
If you have any issues at all with your broadband reliability then it shouldn't be considered an option.
Wait until you have fast and stable broadband available in every room you wish to view Sky TV, then you would have a better chance of getting a more reliable Sky Glass or Sky Stream service.
