This is a Paradox!
Returned to Sky after 2 years or so following my initial nightmare with Glass/Stream from launch. Initially all appeared well second time round but then the usual gremlins "well documented" crept back bringing a negative experience once again. Through negotiation cancelled and agreeing on the 31 days notice everything goes back mid Feb.
However, the last 2 weeks have been relatively trouble free 😳 yes the odd standard problem like powering up but the workaround isn't too much hassle and the HDMI is all working again. Channel 5 app still glitchy but that's 5 not Sky. I switched to the highlighted black screen from blue making the menu viewing experience far better, at least for me personally.
Strange how a more positive aspect arises once cancelled, why 🤯

Re: This is a Paradox!
Well, Sky Glass and Stream is an itch that I have to scratch in my search for "one remote to rule them all", so a 55" Gen 2 and a puck is due on Monday.
I am a paying customer, no freebies (despite what some people may think) and I will be very honest when I feed back on my experience.
Personally I feel I have been stuck in limbo, mainly because spending a great deal of time on this forum and others like it, so I mostly only see the negative side as people come here for help.
Meanwhile, I know other community members who have had no issues (or no more than Q), and I have friends who have said the same.
Is it going to produce the best picture I have ever seen? Nope, I know that, but is it "good enough" to suit our family who are mostly streaming from apps apart from live sport, and don't care about picture quality as I do, that is the question.
I can assure you, it gets 2 weeks max to work well or it will be going back, I will be keeping the Q kit here while I test because it is the only way to scratch the itch!
To be honest, it will be packaged up the same day if it has DSE or single dead pixel! 🤣

Re: This is a Paradox!
Its the constant niggly stuff if you can live with it then it will be fine. Everyday I power on power off press home just to start anything. The missing blue line of watched items disappearing is a pain too when tracking items. Continue watching has got better in removing stuff by FF but still no remove forever option. Puck picture quality with a decent tv is exceptionally good but the Puck is so slow after using Apple TV.
Give it a go 31 days and counting 😂

I've had Glass 2 for 11 months, initially I thought the picture was dull but changed it to Extra-vivid, brilliant now, yes had the odd time of "please wait whilst the program loads" just pressed back on the remote tried again & it's fine, wouldn't go back to Q
Make sure your have a good wifi or better still connect via Ethernet, with wifi if you've alot of people using it if can cause issues, Sky Glass & Stream box need an uninterupted connection then it will be fine, when I had Glass 1 in 2021 my router was 2 rooms away, it was terrible, everything went back but now I'm with Virgin Media the hub is next to the Glass 2, far better, I have Glass 2 55" Volcanic grey, love it

Re: This is a Paradox!
That's good to hear @Steve93 , mine will be connected via Ethernet, even though the hub is only 2 feet away!
Sky Stream will be in the room directly above and the Q mini has been fine in there for years, so hopefully steady and stable.

Re: This is a Paradox!
Best of luck with it. I personally wouldn't touch Glass with a barge pole - they look great... until you turn it on. If you've not had a half decent TV before (FALD LCD/miniLED/OLED) then you might think wow, this is amazing. But it's really a pretty average TV. My parents have one and curse it daily.
Stream was a great idea but was ultimately hugely disappointing for us. JUST. NOT. RELIABLE.
Since switching to Apple TV boxes we've seen how smooth & slick a streaming experience can be. The whole family love it & no more sluggish Sky hardware in our household.

Re: This is a Paradox!
@stereohaven Don't worry, while the community does see mostly negative posts on Glass/Stream you'll just need to see if it works for you.
Recommend using either very stable wifi, as Glass/Stream is WiFi 6 I use a clear band in the 100+ region on 5ghz, if you have a 3rd party AP you could create a seperate 5Ghz wifi signal away from the crowded part of the band (assuming your access points is wifi 6).
Better still use ethernet if possible.
Post back your findings on what does or doesn't work for you.

I know I will be critical of the picture, I am coming from an OLED, admittedly an old one (2016), that is pretty dark on every setting, but I know I am the only one that cares about the picture quality in our house. Good enough, might be enough.
I am a massive advocate of the Apple TV 4K, I have 3!
Whilst I get on with it fine (and yes, I have used NOW, have TV launcher etc.), the rest of the family always reach for the Sky remote!
Just going to have to try it for ourselves, it's the only way to know for sure.

Re: This is a Paradox!
Never had an issue with running off wifi. I have VM hub5x with virgins own mesh pod system.
Gen 2 is about 12 foot away from the router in the same room and pretty much picks up the the full 500mbs
I have a gen 1 in the attic room that runs fine on wifi and two pucks in separate bedrooms all again on wifi.
inhave had two pucks replaced over the last 4 years due to software glitches but that process was pretty painless ......
