So many issues

I am getting so fed up of SkyGlass and SkyStream. Nearly a year now of incessant problems, from programmes not loading at all, to juddery screens, slow interfaces that sometimes freeze altogether., and the SkyGlass itself never remembering screen settings.

Why is this service so ridiculously patchy, especially given you are on Gen2 and hence presumably any early issues would have been resolved.

Can we end contract early if the service just isn't really fit for purpose?

Hi @Darryll You would need to state your case to Sky but I have read of many instances where customers have argued successfully and being allowed to terminate their contract.  Each case would be viewed on its own merits.

You could make a complaint at this LINK which will initially ask you to sign into your MySky account.

Re: So many issues

@Darryll

I was an early adopter on Gen1 and stream and it was dire 6 months in I walked away no issues and no financial loss well except the TV that I gave to my nephew and uni mates for their gaming.

Two years later I have given it another go but many of the original issues still exist, still buggy, still needing tender care. I am in negotiations again to return everything and close the contract, currently going through the motions.

Re: So many issues

Think I will do the same then. Even the resolution of the TV is the worst in the house, and it has already developed a dark black blotch in the centre of the screen 😡😡

Certainly no harm in trying. When it works it's pretty good but the glitches can be very annoying especially as they tend to be so frequent. I kept a daily list on a spreadsheet with photos or video evidence. Yeah don't judge 🙄

Darryll

What speed is your tv getting? You check this by opening netfix going to help opening at and running check my network, also the more devices you have connected to the internet the weaker the signal is to each one,  with the wifi,

I have a 55inch gen 1 sky glass, a 55 inch gen 2 a puck, freesat box, 43 inch lg smart tv, 3 moblie phones, xbox, playstation 5, smart meter, ring doorbell vidio, personnal computer, tablet, laptop, 3 alexers, all on sky gigfast 900 mps full fiber broadband and no problems ever. Had my gen 1 and puck from november 2021 the tv's and the puck are all connected with ethernet cables more stable than wifi, my tv's both get high 80's low 90's mps and my puck the about the same

"and no problems ever"

With respect you may be a superuser and perhaps a Sky super fan which is fine but you can't make such a statement as we are all aware of problems, bugs, connectivity issues, app failures, Playlist issues, technical faults, loss of epg, channels not loading, lip sync issues etc etc.

Even Sky acknowledge such problems and post on these boards, so you must be the luckiest man in the country. Better to acknowledge the problems with a solution surely.

There are problems with the service and they are well documented here. If all was well we would still be on software version 1 not 38 and this community would not need to exist 🤔

Gincap, you will never get into 'silicon heaven' if you disagree😂.

There's no chance anyway and not a super fan so very unlikely but I do think silly statements like that need to be called out. They just infuriate customers who have constant issues regardless of super fast Internet and Ethernet.

I have EE 1.6gbps somebody should tell my TV and pucks that 🙄

Re: So many issues

I quite agree Gincap...funny though, some superusers say the same and then a few weeks later come out with well, I have to reboot it now and again! I wonder if they are immune when Sky have issued a hookey software update?

Re: So many issues

@Darryll I have never owned a Glass TV, and have no interest in getting one.

So why am I commenting on this issue?

I believe customers should know and exercise their consumer rights when goods and services are not up to scratch. Even if you are the only Sky  customer experiencing issues with their TV and or service is, IMHO, irrelevant. You should be getting the service you are paying for, so complain and do whatever you can do to get redress.

I have Glass gen 1 & two pucks and have had since they were launched and they just work. I'm no Sky fanboy - in fact I have cancelled multi room, Sport, Cinema etc as the prices were silly but recently I dont recall the last time I experienced any particular issue.

Re: So many issues

Thank you all for your comments.

I appreciate my thread started with a 'whinge' rather than any hope that people might have workarounds.

The hub speed around the house seems fine, so that isn't the issue.

Feels in many ways that Sky Stream is just utterly pointless.  It is, in essence, just a piece of software that acts as a 'front-end' for services that I either pay for separately, or are free anyway.

Certainly the worst move I made having had VM for years.  That said, you don't know unless you try I guess.

I shall have a chat with CS and look into contract termination, either that, or bite the bullet for a final year (of 2) of dire experiences!

Thanks again though all for your responses.  Appreciated.
