Great review. Just one question. Why did you need to plug in an Amazon Firestick? Surely you can just use the Amazon TV app?

A device like a fire stick is useful to be able to access Apps which aren't available on Sky Glass.

So a streaming TV without all the apps? Which ones are missing? Or is this an oblique reference to jailbroken Firesticks...

I have Pluto tv, freevee,  Amazon photos, tune in radio ....... and I use now tv app for sky cinema (had a deal for 6 months)

also a good backup in case there's issues with the glass service. And going back a year or so the quality on the prime app on the firestick was much better than on glass.

also I like the fireplace and Xmas apps.

Oh well. You learn something every day. Never heard of most of that. A bit niche, but whatever floats your boat...

That sounds worrying for anyone contemplating ditching their dish. How often have there been issues?

Way less issues than I had with sky q (when I also had a firestick)

The Sky OS is a closed operating system and doesn't have an app store, so you only get Apps available for which the app owners have a contractual deal in place with Sky, which is typically as a result the big broadcasters who are big enough to support a unqiueversuon of their app which can run on and integrate with Sky OS (eg your Paramount +, Netflix, BBCs etc).

Re: Sky Glass Gen 2 Review

Purchased Sky Glass 2 today.  Currently have 55 inch Glass 1.  Question I did ask sky was would  the 55 inch version 2 fit my version 1 wall mount.  The response was yes?  So will now have to wait until my v2 tv arrives.

Hi @Mayday908  Sorry to say you were misinformed as the Glass 2 will not fit on the Glass 1 wall mount as the fittings are entirely different.

Re: Sky Glass Gen 2 Review

How wobbly is the tv on the stand? I've watched one review on YouTube and it looks quite bad.

Hi @Rob394 I can't comment on the Glass gen 2 but the gen 1 (55 inch) was fine on its stand.

Gen 2 on a correctly installed stand is not wobbly at all.

Re: Sky Glass Gen 2 Review

What do you need to do to ensure the stand is installed correctly? Every YouTube video I've watched shows a very wobbly tv if touched even slightly. That would be a big concern for me if young children were to be near it.

@Rob394  You need to follow the instructions on assembly/attaching the stand to the letter.

Incorrectly installed pegs cause the stand to be unstable.

For the TV to fall over on a correctly installed stand needs someone to physically pull it towards them, this is no different to an other TV.

Re: Sky Glass Gen 2 Review

I've just checked my own tv (Panasonic oled) and it isn't the most stable either if physically knocked. I just got a bit concerned when I watched a couple of those videos and they pointed out the movement on the Glass 2. Currently I'm in the market for a new tv for the living room and am very tempted with the new Glass. The reviews have been very positive (apart from that stand issue, or non-issue). I'm more than happy with my Stream puck so if the tv performs as well as the puck then I'd be more than happy to change. Thanks for the help @GD1

@Rob394

Tbh it's not as stable as the gen 1 which had a massive hanger of a stand attached to the top back

the gen 2 is placed onto the stand on assembly and is stable but not as stable as the gen 1

the glass performs better than the puck in my opinion ...... would guess the gen 2 has better specced parts than the pucks ....
