Hi @Blackbeauty1 and welcome to the forum. Is it a new remote? If so remove the back and check that when you removed the tag it did not break off leaving a bit between the battery terminals. This is a fairly common issue.
The back can be very stiff the first few times you remove it so some people use rubber gloves to give them more grip.
