Do I have to buy 2 Gen 2-s?
I haven't received my Sky glass gen 2 because sadly you have to buy two TVs at the same time and can't upgrade my existing sky glass tv, according to sky sales unless you know differently...🤔

You own your Glass 1 and if you pay monthly you're paying off the loan, rather than it being subscription.
You can buy a Gen 2 but what you do with your Gen 1 is up to you. You can resell, recycle, gift or use in a second room but Sky won't take it in exchange for a Gen 2.
I hope that clarifies. Sorry if I misunderstood what you're saying.

I can't even do that at the moment, seems to be a glitch in the accounts department. Says I have an outstanding bill to pay and in fact I'm in credit.

That can happen if you've made a manual payment.
