Black screen

More sky glass black screen issues from about 05.30. Is it just me?

Re: Black screen

It happens to most from time to time. The usual solution is to unplug the TV, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in.

Re: Black screen

All is black!! Turns out the telly is FUBAR so I can either pay to get a replacement or pay to cancel my contract, awesome!!🤙🏻🤮

Re: Black screen

I guess it was out of warranty then? It might be worth you looking at the second hand market. There's a few Gen One sets being listed now. Buyer will probably ask for you to collect but might be cheaper than what Sky quote you for a replacement.

Re: Black screen

@Tom599 if you purchased your Glass when first released you have gotten about 3 1/2  years service... I have TVs in my home way older than that and all working perfectly although without the advance technology of a Sky Glass TV 🙄.

If you have not got Sky Protect warranty, you could go down the route of a small claims court if you believe the goods paid for should have lasted longer than it has.

As mentioned, ebay has loads of Glass TVs up for sale, but you could pay a few hundred pounds for it to die on you and again unless you have some kind of warranty, you have no redress.

If convenience of having just 1 lead is what you crave, you will need to purchase a new Glass 2 TV with Sky Protect.

Alternatively, get a smart TV with better screen technology and a sound bar. Maybe consider using Sky Stream or go with nowtv. This is what I will do when my Stream contract ends later this year.

Black Screen

When turning on the TV in the mornings, all is fine for the first 5 minutes, but then the screen goes Black, but I have sound. If I change channel, I get the waiting for program to load. I have tried everything, but it's still the same issue. It happens every 5 minutes for the first 2 hours, I am turning the TV off and on again at the plug every 5 minutes ( which, being disabled, is not easy ). To say that I am annoyed is an understatement; if they don't sort it soon, it's GONE.

Re: Black Screen

@DMK I feel your frustration. I have found that doing a factory reset clears the problem for a longer period than the normal reset by remote and unplugging.

Sky do advise only doing this with them on the phone in case of problems setting the TV back up and you will need to re-set up all your picture/sound/TV settings again.

It clears the black screen problem for a few days in my experience since first getting this problem back in April. The problem itself only started when I received the latest OS update.
