I seem to recall that when Glass was first launched there was talk of a trade-in system similar to Apple's trade in programme.

Prominently during the live launch event at 32:40

Worryingly absent since then, though, and not mentioned in any contract terms or information on how it might relate to the purchase loan...

True.

They just put six in it.

Average TV has like 2.

So it was always going to sound better.

I know TPV inside out and they always come good in the end with software updates, but by golly it's an infuriating way to sell a product by fiekd testing it on the general public first.

Sky, Comcast whatever have got their hands full make no mistake.

Sky/Comcast are responsible for the vast majority of the code running on Glass - just the very base firmware layer would be from TPV.

Common faults reported on here I also faced on a Philips PUS7805 on the Saphi operating system.

Stuck on update and crashing whilst exploring menus are 2 common similarities.

They (both os) are on TP Vision hardware.

Re: Tearing apart Sky Glass…

When you check the TPV website, they claim to be a Dutch company. Many of the big tv companies, even the ones that make their own panels buy in parts including panels from other suppliers.

Re: Tearing apart Sky Glass…

When you look at the video, the smashed screen looks like it's made from glass.

Does anyone know for definite what the screen is made from.

Ngl this is a massive help, have been debating what to do with the TV after contract, for sure am not sticking with the operating system. Thank you for this, you should of put it into reddit as their are way more developers that would post more on the subject.

TPV makes it a Phillips TV. They are a good TV manufacturer. Be glad it wasn't made by Vestel or another company that makes value TV brands.

Philips only have a 30% stake in TPV - they are not Philips and Sky Glass is not a Philips TV.
