From my perspective I only posted as it's impossible to determine if it's our system or is it something beyond my control. In this instance it was widespread and beyond my control. Pleased to say that all has returned to normal here. Thank you to all who responded.

Sky does need to learn how to communicate effectively when something has failed. A complaint is a free gift to all suppliers to improve and be seen in a positive light. I'm sure they have "monitors" within this community. My thanks to the engineers at Sky for resolving my problem

@Jackalo  Yes they need to be better at communicating and give us a wee something if anything goes wrong any time as an apology for when things goes wrong

So after 2 days of annoying problems I called Sky yesterday and we went through a factory reset in the end.  Since then it seems to be ok (touch wood)

I went into settings and reset the system and up to now is working again. Not sure how long it will last but fingers crossed.

I'm really keen not to have to reset everything and sign into all the apps again etc, not least as I'm not convinced it will fix the problem.

 

On my box:

 

  • I generally get no live channels.
  • However, live channels between 1000-1099 (Crime and Justice TV etc) do work.
  • All apps continue to work.

The lack of update from Sky is poor. That there is a problem that is one thing, and in some ways to be expected from time to time as no service is perfect.

 

To not update customers, however, is very poor service, not least as it's not clear whether they are attempting to fix it or leave their customers to their own devices. 

 

Clearly, as a customer, I will have to be a soon ex-customer.

I agree it is a poor service.  They are quick enough to bombard us with Ads etc so why not let us know what's going on.

 

i did the factory reset with them and I didn't have to sign back in to my apps.  Even my playlist has remained.  It's just the WiFi I had to reconnect and set up the remote control again

So many days later still no real answer to the issue from sky or "super users" apart from a note that sky are aware of the issue.

Hi @K+Hill  The outage lasted for a little under 4 hours and was fixed late on Wednesday night as reflected in a number of posts after 11pm on 8th Oct on this thread.

 

If you are still suffering from this issue then try rebooting your Glass or stream puck but if that doesn't help you will need to contact Sky.  I have read a couple of posts on this and other threads of people in your situation where Sky talked them through a factory reset to resolve it

It wasn't fixed.. It's ongoing. 

 

Contacting sky and doing a factory reset every time their service goes down is hardly a worthwhile service to pay for.
