Sky have extended their contract with SES until 2027.
SES will continue to deliver Sky UK’s channels in a mix of standard definition (SD), high definition (HD) and ultra-high definition (UHD) until 2027. These broadcast from the Astra 2E, F and G satellites at 28.2/28.5 degrees East.

Knowing my luck if I requested to go back to satellite, they would send me one of these...

Just to be clear - it was a routine renewal and Sky will continue to use their satellite capacity until at least 2027 as that's just this particular contract/leasing period.

@Anonymous thanks for the explanation I will give those a try.
For all the faults/costs with Sky Glass/Stream I haven't come across a better all round streaming solution that also incorporates a terrestrial TV guide.
I have completed a lengthy survey from Sky with my views on Glass/Stream with suggested improvements and it's good that they seem to be listening..
You stated that you wished to be paid to test their products. well I also signed up to an independent customer research company called Bunnyfield that pays consumers to test Sky products. Unfortunately I wasn't chosen. It envolved testing and reporting during last November.
I suspect this was for the new profiles before launch and they probably encountered too many problems and put it on hold.

Astra 2E/2F/2G at 28.2°E is used by Sky and Freesat
The Astra 2E satellite was launched into the Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) orbit on 30 September 2013
It has a lifespan of 15 years
That lifespan in regards to 15 years is 2028
SES have plans to launch 3 new satellites to replace older in 2024
@Anonymous
Sky contract with SES was extended to the end of 2028
It was previously a deal for 2021 to 2027 but a extra year was agreed in May 2022

May I throw in another point to consider?
TP Vision, who make Philips sets and Glass, are notorious for initial software glitches.
It took 12 months of updates to get my old Philips set to stable.
Therefore I'm really not surprised by any of this.
Glass can be amazing, I'll stick with it. They'll get there, but I hope they don't abandon it.

from a business model perspective the amount of cost they save from not paying licenses to use satellites, not having to manufacture dishes and not having to employ installers with all the cost of vehicles, fuel, wages and damage to properties is the no brainier of no brainers.
buying themselves an extra year to sort out the streaming model and to allow openreach to upgrade the broadband infrastructure is exactly what they have done
