Help please

I've got sky glass. I've recently been on holidays and have come back and started watching what I've recorded while I've been away. First few episodes I've been able, as always, to fast forward through the ads but it's now stopped midway through an episode where it says I'm unable to skip ads. Anything I've ever recorded on sky glass in the 3 years I've had it I've  always been able to skip ads. Cant understand why it's suddenly changed. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Hi @Linz9 and welcome to the forum.  It is probably just a software glitch in which case try restarting your Glass by going into Settings > System Management > Resets & Updates > Restart device.  It takes about 3 minutes to completely reboot. You will have a blank screen for a couple of minutes before the Sky logo appears so don't be concerned when this happens.

If it doesn't help then post back and give full details of what is happening.

Re: Help please

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I know it's not a massive issue just irritating.

Yes before I posted on the forum I did try and find an answer to the issue and have already tried restarting the tv the way you suggest but with no luck.

I've always been able to fast forward through any ads if I'm watching something I've recorded in Playlist, this is always a tv programme on ITV. So I have quite a few programmes I've recorded while I've been on holiday and I've started watching them from Playlist. First 5 or 6 I've been fast forwarding through the ads but halfway through one it's stopped letting me do this.

I've checked the other ITV programmes I've recorded and it's the same with them. No longer able to fast forward through ads.

Its also odd that before I watch something I've recorded from ITV, now the tv flicks to the ITVX app rather than staying on the sky glass Playlist.

Any suggestions would be great, thank you.

I watch a fair bit on ITVx

Rarely watch ITV live, but do add mixed content across tneir Drama and Sports mostly to my Playlist.

ITV does not generally cloud record its content, as most will be added as a playlist link to the ITVx app.

There are some temporary cloud recordings that I have seen like the BTTC many hour sport event, that does offer temporary cloud recordings for a few days before it appears on the ITVx app, so the playlist link then transfers to that.

Not seeing of late any issues on this community with ad skipping in ITVx.

Is it a paticular programme you are having issues with ad skipping via ITVx, or all of them?

Some examples may help.

How long were you on holiday for? ITVX only keeps certain lifestyle content available on demand for a limited amount of time.
If you can't find the episodes you want by searching within the ITVX app (rather than via the Sky search) then you may be out of luck. You can always contact ITVX directly and ask.

The first two I do not normally watch, but the last I do.

Just tried the last, it sits in my playlist (current series has played out the first five episodes so far last few months, no sign yet of episode 6 in next few weeks, if there is one) and is working fine here, having played out and skipped the ads in episode 4 and 5 of the latest series 10, as expected the playlist tile link played them in the ITVx app.

James Martin Saturdaynis playing live now for Series 8 episode 25, so until the broadcast has finished you will not be able to skip the live broadcast ads obviously.

But just tried last weeks S8e24 and it plays out fine with ad skipping, in the ITVx app, launched from the Playlist tile.

Can you try the following;

Try an apps refresh;

  1. Press Home on your Sky remote, then select Settings
  2. Press System management then Resets and updates and finally Refresh apps.
  3. You'll see a message that says, 'Your apps are being refreshed'.
  4. Press Dismiss to return to normal viewing.

The refresh can take up to 24 hours to complete.

Re: Help please

Thank you. I was only away for two weejs. I'm going to try and refresh the apps as someone else has suggested and see if that helps.
