Dark dull Dolby Vision
Think I'm at my wits end with the Sky Glass Gen2- what's going on with Dolby Vision on Netflix? It's dark and washed out looking? I have it set to Dolby Vision Bright (also tried dark) - it also says that the Backlight is 100%.
Usually the TV is bright and colourful in SDR and YouTube HDR - but I couldn't watch Netflix with that on.
On my old VESTEL (Toshiba) it would brighten the screen and look bright and rich, and the same for my Samsung (via HDR10+)
Any pointers before I call Sky to return it?

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
I found exactly the same on my Glass gen2. It was impossible to get a decent Dolby Vision image without the blacks looking milky and grey. I returned it and bought an OLED TV instead which is absolutely astonishing in comparison. It is light years ahead of Glass in terms of picture quality and I'm so glad I bought it. Only cost a few pounds more but is so much more versatile, faster and more reliable.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
See I had a Samsung OLED but as it's a bedroom tv I kept falling asleep and the YouTube interface was starting to burn into the screen even with the screensaver and pixel movement on, so I'm wanting to stay with LCD just for that reason, so I might just return the Sky Galss Gen2 and get a high end Hisense or TCL (I would get an LG but their LCD panels are bad, but I know their OLED panels are great) and I want to avoid Samsung as the OS is slow and doesn't support Dolby Vision

Sounds wise. The mini-LED technology used by HiSsense and TCL is very good.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
I'm having the same problem with glass 2.Dolby vision automatically comes on with Netflix.
I always watch in extra vivid and Dolby vision is just terrible.
Are Sky going to fix this or has anyone managed to rectify it?
It really is unwatchable it's so dark.
SORT IT OUT SKY!!!

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
@Bros123 I'm sure some there's plenty of Glass 2 owners in here who'll be able to give you some tips on how to sort it out mate, you're definitely in the right place.
LG OLED evo C3 77
Sonos Arc Ultra, Two Sonos Era 300s and Two Sonos Subs Gen 3
Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition, Xbox Series X and PS4 Pro 500 Million Edition.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
@Bros123 Is It Sky's problem to solve? It sounds like a Netflix issue from your description. Not much Sky can do about it.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
Well it's the very same if I stream to chromecast on the TV, so it's obvious the sky glass isn't Dolby Vision compatible or they need to update something, but Netflix should give us the option to turn Dolby vision off!

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
I have this issue and I have an open complaint with them. I told them multiple times that if it's not a known issue then they are failing because all they have to do is Google it to find loads of people complaining about the same thing. They took nearly a month to get back to me and their response was that my standards are too high! Only when I refused to accept that answer did they say they would pass it onto the sky glass team so they hadn't actually even passed it to them in that whole month. Outraged frankly. If they can't fix it I'll be returning it and expect to be let out of my package. I've wanted sky my whole life. I thought I had made it and expected it to be amazing. Terrible customer service, never again

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
I've actually had to stream some Netflix shows on pirate because it's unwatchable on Netflix on the TV apps for some reason !!
Are Sky going to sort this out or what? Ridiculous.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
So I genuinely have a feeling that they might have literally in the last 10 minutes changed a setting for me that's improved it 😅🤣 I got through to the point yesterday where I had been waiting for a month for them to get back to me about my complaint. They told me that my standards were too high and that it was in my head and not a known issue. I had to basically kick off for them to then actually escalate it to the sky glass team. Seems like within 24 hours that team has changed my settings and fixed it? I don't want to speak too soon but this scene definitely looked almost grey 10 minutes ago. I would highly recommend opening an official complaint (if you can find the email don't get me started on how hard it was to actually start in the first place) and really hold your ground if they try to fob you off!

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
I just saw your post. So have they turned off Dolby vision on your account from their side?
I am sick of Dolby vision, as it makes my tv so dark as well.
Can someone from sky tell us if this is the case, and that sky can turn off Dolby Vision from their side?
It should be an option as Netflix is unwatchable for me. I've had to try and get a version from elsewhere, even though I'm paying for Netflix!

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
Well I have a mixed response. I noticed during my complaint that they did change something their end because at times it was better and then it would get bad again. I know I was not imagining this. I was so overjoyed and then so upset at the changes. They would not, however, listen to me explain this and told me that my complaint wasn't legit and they had no "know issues" and that they were closing my complaint. Wouldn't let me out of my contract, etc. However! Since then whatever setting they changed has been good. So personally I believe some tech guy saw he'd messed up and fixed it and told them I was delusional. I would strongly recommend complaining. Their reasoning for ignoring me was that nobody else is reporting the same issue.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
Thanks for replying! To say it wasn't a recognised problem that people have haven't complained about us wrong.
I bought the TV because I'd heard it was very bright and I complained a few times as well, but nothing has been done. I know we aren't the only 2 people to have complained!!
Netflix is unwatchable with Dolby vision.

Re: Dark dull Dolby Vision
Entirely agree! The second my contract is up I'll be leaving. Waited my whole life to get sky thinking it was some kind of premium service and I'd finally made it 🤣 should have stuck to my chrome cast
