Recently got Sky Stream and have a Bose 900 soundbar with Bose Sub connected to a Sony KD-65XD8599 TV.
I have the puck going to the TV and the soundbar connected via ARC. I can check on the Bose app that I am getting Dolby 5.1 but have never seen Dolby Atmos. I have selected some DA content from the puck. I have changed the sound settings on the puck from Auto to Passthrough to Dolby Digital Plus, all with no success. I have looked at the TV settings but cannot see anything apart from the options that I have selected 'highest' for, on Sound settings. Anyone else having this 5.1 Dolby Atmos issue?

According to the manual the only formats of audio compatible with this model of TV are:
5.1 channel linear PCM: 32, 44.1, 48, 88.2,
96, 176.4 and 192 kHz, 16, 20 and 24 bits, Dolby
Digital and DTS
There's no mention of Atmos anywhere I'm afraid, and it's unlikely to be passed through via HDMI.

I think that's a relatively early UHD set (c2016) and from memory sets of that vintage may well not do Atmos passthrough even if they can produce Atmos from on-board apps (which is itself unlikely)
Unfortunately that soundbar, being single input, cannot support the more viable configuration of puck to soundbar over HDMI and then soundbar to television over HDMI ARC

Where can I download this manual please? I've ordered Sky Stream and want to swat up on the puck and its features so I'm ready when it arrives. Does it have TOSLINK/Optical Audio out?

Sky Stream only has a HDMI output.
Thanks,

Thanks for you very speedy reply and knowledgable answer @Tim+Adams My Avantree Opera Headset (which i want to use to listen to TV so I minimise disturbance to neighbours) has only regular 3.5 mm wired audio in or Optical SPDIF. Alas the LG TV does not have any audio output at all so this may pose a problem. When I was with another TV provider, their gear had this optical output so I'm wondering if its possible to get a bigger/better puck which does have this feature, otherwise any suggestions please?

On a re-read of this thread, I see that the manual referred to is for the TV and not the Stream puck.
There doesn't seem to be a proper manual for it (although there is one for the Sky Q box and various satellite boxes). This is typical of Sky's approach of treating their satellite TV viewing service as the premium way to do it but viewing TV via their Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) Stream service isn't as fully featured/supported.
I worked around the lack of an audio output on the Stream puck by spending £20 to buy a Digital HDMI Audio extractor and this allows me to use my headphones. This shouldn't have been needed though and an IPTV box with a digital audio output socket (as well as a hard drive for proper program recording and storage) should be developed.
I realise the focus of Sky has been on their long-standing Satellite TV service but for those unable to have a satellite dish on the roof, why should we put up with second best?

Fair comment @FlyingKiwi my wireless/bluetooth headphones are connected to my LG tv via bluetooth
The tv sound out is played through the Sky Soundbox
I just switch the Soundbox off if listening through my headphones so I don't disturb rest of the household

How does the digital audio extractor fit in - does it go between the puck + TV?

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@FlyingKiwi the lack of a manual for Sky Glass/Stream is due to when it was developed Sky have moved away from written manuals like the whole electronics industry relying on video and web based support.
Sky have never fully documented any of their systems and the limited written material for Sky+ and Sky Q is not reliably updated. Actually there are limited technical specs for the streaming units in this document Sky Glass Reviewers Guide.
The lack of an audio output on the Stream unit is again a function of when the system was developed and the tendancy of the industry to gradually remove legacy outputs so you wont find audio outputs on most IP units including the Apple TV 4K. The Stream like those is designed to be attached to a TV which is where these outputs are normally found.
Sky's mistake was not equipping their Glass TVs with any support for headphones/hearing aids which was a serious accessibility issue. The provision of Bluetooth audio output on the Glass has partially solved this. Otherwise people need to use third party kit like HDMI audio extractors.
The lack of ports or documentation is not a reliable indicator of price/quality as anyone who have bought Apple's products know only too well.😀

Thats exactly the case. I left the extractor set to the default 'passthrough' mode as well. The one I bought directly from an electronics shop in the nearest city with lots of shops, although made in China, came from a company with a UK distribution/support network. PM me if you need further info @Oliversdad
I realise that there's lots of 'thats how its always been done' WRT the Stream puck. My point is that although this is true (and common), this needs to change so that IPTV can be a premium option. Manuals in PDF form are still useful and green so Sky has no excuse.
