Well its the channel owners that add the channels, not Sky.

A channel owner needs to a) want to be on the Sky Streaming platform b) meet Sky's technical requirements c) have an agreement/contract agreed with Sky to broadcast on the platform. Skys streaming platform is a closed platform, unlike satellite which providing a broadcaster pays they can broadcast.

I understand that , but I had more channels when I had sky HD + , I also have a Samsung tv , which actually has more channels than my glass platform and more apps

Yes, there are a larger number of channels choosing to be on the satellite platforms: that's likely to remain the case until satellite broadcasting to the UK ends in a few years time.

I also have a Samsung tv , which actually has more channels than my glass platform and more apps

Samsung and other smart televisions permit access to IPTV and an app store.  If you want that kind of flexibility then Glass is not the right product: it's Sky hardware to deliver Sky subscription service and a limited range of apps which have commercial arrangements with Sky.

It's a shame that sky glass does not have the same flexibility than other smart tvs , it's a good concept but sky needs to improve the amount of channels and apps

@Connigale  Sky Glass will never be the same as a proper Smart TV, it is based on Sky software in the same way Sky Q is, and essentially a closed system and Sky won't want to support the amount of apps a Smart TV can.

To be honest I wish they would keep sky+HD and update the satellite it uses

@Connigale  They being Sky?   Sky own no satellites, they never have.

Any replacements would be done by the satellite owners SES in Luxembourg, however the cost of satellites run into billions and the owners have not made any plans public about replacing the current batch that Sky & other broadcasters use.

The UK  market is tiny compared to their other fleet of satellites covering Europe.

Re: Any chance now of more music channels coming ?

I totally agree. It seems more channels are going on to sky Q and NOW tv.

I thought sky glass/stream was the next big thing from sky but we are getting less and less choice.

Why can only some channels go onto sky Q but not stream/glass.

What the deal.

Iam paying £59 just for the stream.

Come on sky are we not all equal.

@Windy33

As noted above, all the Sky-branded and Sky owned channels are present on Glass/Stream, as are the vast majority of channels with substantial viewer numbers

Sky cannot compel any channel owners to bring their product(s) onto the platform.
