Sky news crashed on fire tv

No appropriate board. For a year now on my legitimate Amazon fire TV sky news crashed and does not start most times even after clearing cache and data and reinstalling it. now it only displays a blank screen. I've given up and only use CNN now. All other subscriptions work fine on my fire TV. Sky only problem. Very annoying.

There is a Mobile Apps forum (used for Sky-branded apps other than Sky Go) but your post will have much greater visibility here.

The Sky News app has been pretty cranky for a while on various platforms. It seems to be very sensitive to local network conditions and IP addresses. If it thinks your IP address is not in the UK (even when it is) then it will not open the app. 

I've experienced the same black screen when trying to launch Sky News on both a FireTV device and an Apple tvOS device - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, so I've given up trying. 

I now find that the YouTube live stream of Sky News is the best and most reliable means of getting it.

Hi thanks for that..I have full fibre virgin bb sky  works ok on my virgin box but not on fire TV upstairs...Netflix Disney prime MGM etc all work fine.. It's sky the only problem.. I pay for sky sports but can't get that on my fire re TV sky don't allow incase it's s a sideloaded illegal one.. Mines legit TV but I'm classed as possible illegitimate possible use.. Virgin say pay £10 a month for 2nd box? Why should I?

Hi thanks for that but I'm taking about a Fire tv issue with Sky, not a mobile app. Not a fire stick either. I've discovered Sky have deliberately made their services unavailable on Amazon fire platform due to too many people using illegal sticks with sideloaded stuff allowing them to watch sky without subscribing.. Not fair on me. I subscribe to sky on my virgin package but can't use that on my fire TV in a different room? Sky are denying me a service I've paid for! Virgin tell me to pay for a 2nd box,?! Don't have this issue with Netflix, Disney+, paramount etc? I'm being ripped off!
