Please get rid of two factor authentication

Like many others I'm sick to death of Sky's two factor authentication at logon;  please use "trust device" after first authentication like most other companies, or enable fingerprint login.

2FA is so old fashioned.

@Jonn0 yep,it's a pain, but unfortunately you're mostly telling other customers here.

@Mark39

"Mostly"?  According to this website: "If a Superuser can’t resolve your issue, they may escalate your post to a Sky expert." A Sky expert is a Sky Employee.

Please escalate.

@Jonn0

That won't happen I'm afraid. There's nothing the Community Messaging Team can do. The two step verification is mandatory.

Unless customers voice their opinion nothing will be changed.

@Jonn0

Where does my post suggest that? You requested, although it was expressed more as a demand, that your post be escalated to Sky which I correctly explained.

@Daniel0210

No. It was a request not a demand, hence the word "please" in my post.

I understood that Superusers have an obligation to foster "a friendly environment" in these boards.

Re: Please get rid of two factor authentication

@Daniel0210  I realised that my earlier post was a bit OTT  that's why I edited it. In my defence this flipping 2FA is really annoying me.

@Annie+UK  Thank you for your HELPFUL post.

Re: Please get rid of two factor authentication

It is a complete pain. I can understand that companies now have to put a level of protection in for their liabilty, but as you say, a trust device option would be so much better, even  if you have to re-authenticate every 90 days would be acceptable.

Re: Please get rid of two factor authentication

@TwoBit

Quite right, even my Banking app accepts fingerprint authentication.

On the advice of Annie I raised a complaint but just got fobbed off in the reply.

However the more people who complain the more likely that something sensible will be done about it.

Re: Please get rid of two factor authentication

Sadly once someone higher up makes these decisions, they very rarely admit they are wrong, and any complaints will just be fobbed off that they are protecting their customers in todays digital world.

I've actually started moving my important emails  over to gmail, just so if I need to access them on my laptop, I don't have to keep going through it.
